Close to 40% of the US adult population is now obese and the WHO and AMA define obesity as a disease. So it’s perhaps no surprise that Evaluate Pharma is forecasting sales by indication of $50bn in 2028 and CAGR between 2021 and 2028 at around 36%.
The R&D pipeline is filling up as more and more companies try to grab a slice of this potentially huge pie. However, such prevalence means that obesity has an impact on the development and approval of many treatment, not just those to combat obesity.
