The Evaluate World Preview report is a staple of the pharma calendar. The 2025 edition has just been published, marking the 18th year of providing forecast and trend insights to decision makers across the industry.
If you’re not familiar with the World Preview, I recommend taking a look. Not only does it provide a wealth of data including the fastest-growing therapy areas, forecasts for the top-selling drugs in 2030, and a peek at the most valuable pipeline projects, but it also provides the basis for our upcoming webinar. The webinar will include many of the data highlights from the report and will also feature discussion of the big themes in the market – and this year, I am delighted to be joining the panel.
It’s my first year stepping into the World Preview webinar and there has been so much to discuss with my fellow panelists, Norstella’s Daniel Chancellor and report author Melanie Senior. As a team, our biggest challenge has been how to keep the discussion to the 60 minute limit that our webinar department insists on!
The big themes are unlikely to be a huge surprise but they are hugely relevant to anyone in the pharma and biotech space. The rise of China as a force in biotech, ongoing uncertainties around pricing and tariffs, and the seemingly endless growth of the GLP-1 class of drugs certainly all feature. Our goal is to use the data from the report to help ground the discussion.
Here are a few of the other topics I am hoping we’ll have time to cover in the webinar:
- Pharma’s R&D challenges. The report data shows that R&D budget growth will remain slow, despite the 7.4% growth in market size.
- Therapy area trends. Where are the biggest opportunities and which areas are starting to get crowded?
- The dealmaking landscape. Several blockbusters are facing loss of exclusivity in the next few years. Is that starting to drive M&A or is the ongoing uncertainty holding buyers back?
