Evaluate is at Pharma CI 2026 in Newark, New Jersey, on 16 and 17 September, talking agentic AI, turning R&D benchmarks into competitor signals, and our new competitive intelligence agent, Atlas CI.

Pharma CI is just around the corner again – it seems to come around quicker every year! The Evaluate team is heading to Newark and we’re looking forward to spending a few days in the company of pharma competitive intelligence (CI) teams to discuss all the big topics on their minds.

Agentic AI for competitive intelligence

Inevitably AI will be top of the agenda. It’s been a key focus for the past few years, but the speed at which the technology is evolving means that there’s a lot to talk about. Agentic AI is likely to be the buzzword of the conference which is exciting because we recently launched a dedicated agent specifically designed for competitive intelligence – Atlas CI. The tool leverages Norstella-trusted data to deliver fully sourced, validated landscape insights; even better, the insights are delivered in slides designed by CI professionals!

Reading R&D benchmarks as competitor signals

Speaking of insights, I’ll talk about the latest industry productivity benchmarks during my presentation “From Benchmark to Battleground: A Competitive Intelligence Lens on Pharma Productivity” which takes place on Wednesday afternoon. The session draws from a new piece of analysis that Norstella released recently – the Pipeline-to-Patient Productivity Index. In my presentation, I’ll cover three key things:

  • How we can reframe the headline R&D metrics from the report as competitor signals.
  • What company-level deviation from the benchmark, in development speed and Phase I risk, reveals about which competitors are changing strategy.
  • How to use benchmarks as an early-warning system for competitor strategy.

A roundtable for CI leaders

We’re also getting a bit more hands-on this year. My colleague Suzanne Caruso, President of Clinical, Regulatory, and Strategic Intelligence at Norstella, will be running a roundtable for CI leaders. It will be a facilitated discussion around three core questions:

  1. Which workflows are CI teams handing off to AI agents and which are deliberately kept manual?
  2. What’s stopping CI teams from leveraging AI more: data access, IT, legal, procurement, or trust in the output?
  3. What does the ideal CI agent do?
